Ladies, are you suspicious that “your man is pulling a Tiger Woods”? All over this country, complete nobodies are probably juggling multiple extramarital affairs the press couldn’t care less about, leaving those nobodies’ wives and girlfriends with no way to uncover the truth, apart from paying attention and asking questions. Until now! “Intelius, an e-commerce company that empowers consumers with online information to make intelligent decisions” would like to offer five suggestions to “give you peace of mind without [your] being a stalker.”
So … we all know that Tiger Woods has been in the news recently but what does that have to do with information privacy? Well, while the article linked above is ultimately trying to be funny, it painfully hits square on the head the revelation of how ones’ privacy my be legally violated by (not the government or big business but rather) your friends or family. Clearly another example of a potential burden of an extensively and increasingly networked society. Perhaps it is something we all need to keep in the back of our minds.
